Hello Doug,- In searching for other Stringfellows, I came across your entry and noted the phrase, 'transported to Virginia by patent'. I've run into this phrase before. Can you tell me what it means? Is this person under contract to settle lands? Is this person indentured or a prisoner required to settle in order to work off a sentence? I have never been able to find a definition. Thanx!
