Well, good news in the genetic link to current Stroud males descended from Nathaniel to his grandfather, John Sr. of Natick. Much thanks to JSP and her brother. It goes a LONG way to both prove what many of us have believed, as well as disprove a lot of incorrect family histories out there.
I have not heard anything back from the person that is said to have seen the Stroud bible with the family birthdays of John's second family. That seems to have sparked off a lot of connections being made by myself and others in this search. I would be very interested in getting a photocopy of the bible entries (as well as any other entries in that bible). I have not been able to find anything on who Abigail ??? Bates was, where she came from, or who her parents were. Nathaniel Bates seems to be a mystery himself. I am including his lines to the John Stroud family in my genealogy, as in pure genealogical terms, John Stroud was the adopted parent of Nathaniel and Edward Bates.
Also, does anyone have a copy of John Stroud Sr's Rev. War file? I would be interested in getting a photocopy of it, as I do not have access to any National Archive locations near here.
