There is a WWI draft registration card for Gerald Dwight Stroup, born 27 Jan 1899, residing in R.F.D. No. 2, South Solon, Madison Co., Oh. Date of registration: Sept 12, 1918. Nearest relative: J.W. Stroup.
(this surprises me because I expected to see J.M. or Milton J Stroup.)

There is no doubt in my mind that your Milton Stroup descends from John and Mary (nee Steely) Stroup. If you're related to Ellen Marie Stroup, then you and I are distant cousins. John and Mary (nee Steely) Stroup had seven known children: William, John, David, Joseph, Jacob, Sarah, and Nancy.

If my information is correct, your Milton Stroup was John Milton Stroup Jr., born 27 March 1877, to John Milton and Sarah W. (nee Thomas) Stroup Sr. who were married in Madison Co. Ohio on 31 October 1872.

John Milton Stroup Sr. was the son of Joseph and Sarah Ann (nee Hanson) Stroup who were married in Madison Co., Ohio, on 9 April 1846.

Joseph Stroup was the son of William and Ann (nee Thomas) Stroup who were married in Ross Co., Ohio, on 31 Dec 1809, just about the time that William's parents, John and Mary (Steely) Stroup moved from Ross Co. into the Paint Creek, Stokes Township area of Madison Co., Ohio.

I'll leave it at that assuming that, if that's your line, you'll be in touch sooner or later.
