Related to Adam Stroup?

You won't believe how much my father Doyce Ray Stroup (1920) looks like Moses Stroup! Everytime I go into Tannehill I see the plaque with Moses's face on it. There aren't too many Stroups around here in Shelby County, AL so I figured that I must be related. Probably to Jacob, son of Adam since I read on this site that Moses's sons were killed in the civil war which may or may not be true. Any idea on where I should start?

Noticed some Stroup's in Obama's line. Interesting.
