Thank you for the confirmation, Clay. I was pretty sure the Guy J. STROUP in the 1930 census of St. Louis, MO, was Ida's son, but I wanted to be certain. I've made a page for him, too:

If Guy has no surviving sons or sons of his sons, I'm afraid there's no hope of using Y-DNA testing to identify his biological father. Well, you're still a STROUP through Ida, which means you're still a cousin to the President!
