The most recently released census is 1930, so if your John T. STROPS was born in 1932, you won't find him in the U.S. Census. The 1940 census won't be released until 2012.

The Social Security Death Index shows he was born 21 Nov 1932 and died 29 Dec 1998.

His last residence was Pensacola, Escambia Co., FL. There are three documents that would help you get started:

1. His Social Security application. Once you find him in the above search engine, there is an easy link there to make an "SS-5" request.

2. His death certificate, which should name his parents. Available from the State of Florida:

3. His birth certificate, available from the State of Alabama:

In checking the 1930 census of Alabama, there are no STROPS families, but there are two STROP families and one STROPES family:

John A. & Elizabeth STROP in Crenshaw County

John T. & Maomi STROP in Crenshaw County

Robert & Ethel STROPES in Jefferson County

The only STROPS indexed in the entire 1930 U.S. census are a Joseph STROPS in Michigan (born in Poland) and a Julia STROPS in Minnesota (born in Germany).

Hope this helps.
