I am sorry that I can’t give you a definite answer to your question concerning Rev. MOSES AMES.
From what I have the “almost certain” father is a Joseph Ames (who from DNA studies traces back to the Robert Ames Family of Boxford, MA). This Joseph Ames was a prominent man in Blakesburg/Bradford holding different offices from 1819 thru 1833 and he is recorded in the proper timeframe in the Sullivan/Steuben region of Maine.
Among the siblings of Moses was a James Kenniston AMES, born 2 FEB 1822 at Bradford.
I hope this will, at least, provide you with a few leads!
