I am interested in The Strus - STRUSS Families. Mine came from Wroblik Krolewski Galicia The former Austria Polish sector. It is now Poland. It was and is in the Carpathian Mt area. They were called Ruthenian or Lemkos. I cannot get beyond my Great Grampa Joseph Strus and wife Anna n. Krawec Burka b. circa 1850 married circa 1875. First son aware of was Andzrej Strus born March 1877 and arriving in America 1912. Next was Grampa Georg Strus b. Abt May 6 1981 arriving in 1903. He pronounced the surname as STROOSH; others, Pauline Strus Borik or Borek[spelling?]spouse Teodore and son; Tekla "Tillie" and possibly several others, like John or Jan, Leon, Waldek, Elizabeth etc. Just see those from Wroblik Krolewski or Szlachecki, Sanok and Krosno Districts galicia. I can see STRUS changing spelling in America but the Austria Cadestral has two families as STRUS in 1787. There is a Burka and Krawec there also. Wasn't it really Austro-Hungary in 1850?
Another name that is associated with Strus is Nadzak, who George helped to come to America year later- George and Leo. Other Suranames of interest may be Oplaka, Kot, Dragon, Dzurin,. Piakowa or similar spellin gis a town a friend has asked about too where an Elizabeth Strus WAS LIVING. tHANK YOU TO ANYONE WHO CAN MAKE A CONNECTION WITH MY STRUS FAMILY. STRUSS WAS USED BY JOHN STRUSS [b.1908 fOREST cITY pa USA]IN ARMY
