There is a cemetary just North outside the Kansas City limits in Clay County where there was an old Baptist Log Church, built before the Civil War, which has been demolished by now.The church site still shows the footings and the graves are well cared for and within the last couple of years, a new monument has been placed to account for the demolished, weathered grave markings and has quite a few names of Suddarth on either side of the monument. This strain of Suddarths was a brother to my grandfather, James Carl Suddarth. The area has been made an historical site with a marker on the roadside with the name of the church, Big Shoal Creek Baptist Church. I visited it 4 years ago, and was surprised that the state keeps the grounds well attended. Some of the old markers that are still legible date back into the early 1800's.Although these Suddarths are not of the same branch as I am, I still enjoy seeing it and the gravestones and monument, and knowing that we were all related.
Sincerely,James W. Suddarth, Jr.
