I'm not certain, but I think we might be researching the same family. My son'in'law is descended from a Katherine Sulewski, born 1868 in West Prussia who married a Nicholas (also shown as Michael) Ludwiczak around 1890 in Milwukee, Wisconsin. They lived in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin and had 12 kids.Katherine had a brother, Joseph, who was a widower living with them in 1920- Joseph was born about 1875 in West Prussia and had a son, Edward born in Wisconsin around 1900 who was also living with these people in 1920.
I have seen the 1900 census which you refer to and think it is the same family. If you read the enumeration carefully, it is quite interesting.I do not think all of August's children were actually living there at the time.If you look, it shows many of them are married, gives the number of years married, number of children, etc.Censuses can be interesting because not everyone understood what information was needed, and some enumerators did whatever they wanted.I think August just gave the names of all of his kids, whether they lived at that address or not.it is definitely possible, I have a couple of strange things in some of my family lines--a ggggrandfather who was enumerated twice in two different locations--well he was in prison so he was listed at home with his family and up at the big house!
Let me know if you think my hunch is correct about this family.I am researching them for my new grandson, as I have done extensive work on all of my and my husband's families already.
Thanks,
Joni Vella
