Many thanks for your reply.I have noted your family connection, though I am not sure whether it will be of help to me. I have a box, with an inscription inside which reads - H. Summerscale, July 1887. 1 Eastgrove Street, Leeds, Yorks. I am attempting to find out more about the person who made the box, which belonged to my father(who died when I was a child). I have traced a Harry Summercale in the 1881 census living at 51 (Beckett St) 16 Anglesea St, Leeds, Yorks. who seems to fit the bill, as he is a cabinet maker's apprentice with his father, a furniture dealer and upholsterer. (father John 38, and mother Sarah 35, siblings George, Walter, Edith, Fred, Percy, Frank and Gertrude) is any of this relating to your family? I would love to let any descendants in the right Summerscale family know that a piece made by their ancestor is still in existance!
