How sure are you with your information. Do you have birth certificates etc and have you checked censuses? I have found a marriage of a James Summerskill on 6 December 1818, recorded in Colne, Lancs. His father is listed as Charles Summerskill and mother is listed as Jane. The info is extracted from the 1881 Census. Make any sense?

Have you been on the 1901 Census on-line? I've just printed off the original census sheet document (and the typed transcript) showing my Summerscales family in residence.

My Grandfather, John Henry Summerscales was born 30.04.1896. His parents were Charles Wilkin Summerscales and Rose Summerscales (formerly Lomas) but at this stage, I have no further information. Unfortunately, I have spent lots of time researching my father's and husband's families and not spent as much time researching my mother's side of the family.
