Posted by: Kay Sarrett Borden (ID *****9246) Date: July 01, 2002 at 14:12:45

A tintype photo identified as "Captain S.N. (sic) Surette 7th ..(?).. Newport News Aug. 22nd, 1862" was sold on Ebay in early June and can be viewed at http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=875641457 for 90 days after the end of the auction.

According to info on the Ebay auction, the image was previously purchased at auction with the inside paper of a daguereotype or union case identifying the subject in the portrait.
