David, Winnie was my Great-grandmother, and as far as I know she is the only one of this family that came to Texas. Winnie and Sanford McBride were married in Pontotoc, Mississippi on November 24, 1872. I also believe that I found John in the 1850 census, in Tishomingo County, Mississippi. It is listed as John Surrat, age 20, Jane (I believe this Sarah J), age 18, John, age 2 (I believe that John and William maybe the same child. One may be his first name and the other his middle name.) and Manda, age 5/12, (this may be a nickname for Elizabeth). That is as much as I know, except on the 1850 census this John is living next door to a G. W. Surrat and his family. G. W. is age 49. It might be possible that this is his father. Thanks, Brenda
