What happened to Henrietta King?
The story related through oral history is that she was the black sheep of the family who gave birth to an illegitimate daughter in her teens then was caught with stolen goods on Brighton Station and ultimately committed suicide by cutting her own throat on a Boxing Day, year unknown.
Facts established from research.
Born in Storrington West Sussex in 1852 to Alfred and Sarah King she gave birth to Nellie in March quarter 1873 when aged 21. At age 25 she married Lother Trower on 51/1/1876 at St. Peters Church Brighton. One child was born of this marriage but died in its first year. Luther committed suicide in 1912.

Brothers and sisters. Amelia King, born 1854, married Henry George John Avis 1876, and produced three children, Henry, Norah and Amelia. Charlotte Churchill King, born 11/10/1855, married George Thomas Finch 1876 (Brighton 2b 406), and has been found later living with two children, Frank and Sarah Lottie who, at age 20, married on 10/10/1900 Frank Richard Erlbeck a waiter age 24.Some or all of this Finch family immigrated to New Zealand.
