While looking for the Mary Bryant Suthard family of Alexandria, VA, I came across these Suthards on pg 115 of the 1860 census of Alexandria. (found in genealogy special collections at Kate Waller Library in Alexandria) Could your Sylvester have moved the short distance from Prince William to Alexandria?

SUTHARD, Sylvester machinist 26 years male
Elizabeth 26 female
Rossaline 1 female

SUTHARD, John H laborer 45 m
Eliza 49 f
Delaney 11 m
Mary 6 f
William 3 m

SUTHARD, Thomas laborer 40 m

SOUTHARD (pulled up original handwritten copy and it is SUTHARD, believed to be Mary Bryant Suthard),:
SUTHARD, Mary A 26 f
John 10 m
Sarah 7 f
William 6 male
Charles 2 male
Bryant, John J 57 ship carpenter (Mary's widowed father)
