Laura,
Any luck with your research?
Some of the names you mention are similar to some in my family. Unfortunately it seems like Frank (Frantisek), Anna and Marie are really really common for Svecs. Also in my two trips to the Czech Republic (no reasearch while over there) I noticed there are tons of Svecs in the phone book.
My grandfather Frank W. Svec, jr. passed away a few years ago and didn't talk about his family much.
I am told he had a brother Bill who may have lived on Long Island. Their mother was Marie? possibly Balek.
Frank Sr.'s father is listed as William in his WWI draft card. There may be a Joseph (Jozef?) and Anna Svec somewhere back in the lineage.
Let me know if any of these seem like a match.
