Thank you for the message. Its just possible
I may have a lead for you. In 1991 I was contacted by someone who sent me a family
tree of his immediate Swabey ancestors, on
his mother's side. Coincidentally (perhaps)
he came from Essex. In amongst them there
are two Alfred Swabeys : one, Alfred James
born in 1862 (no other information recorded)
and the other Alfred James, in the next
generation, born in 1908, and marrying an
Olive West. (Again, no death date known).
Both Alfreds were one of many children. The
first's father was called Thomas, married
Ellen Collins and died in 1904, making Alfred
42. The second's father I can't make out
from the tree at all, but whoever it was
produced their children between 1900 and
1914. However, if this Alfred was orphaned
(by the war ?) he would have been 6 - a
very much more vulnerable age. Even here
I have my doubts, because in his letter
the person told me that his mother's uncle
Alfred was still alive (1991) although he
doesn't say anything more about him.
If you email me direct I can give you the
contact and you can ask him direct.
Otherwise I cannot so far find any other
Alfreds - if I do I'll let you know.
