Swains Eng to Ire 1700's

I have found that during the 1700's, Queen Mary sent many poor English to Ireland, giving them land, mainly in the then undesirable midlands...Queen's Co (now Laois). Considering that Swain is an English name, I think that my 'Irish' Swains were originally English...still thought by many Irish to not be Irish at all, regardless of two hundred years...anyone know anything of this?
