James Swain 1845 ? Elham Kent England

My Great Grandfather James Swain married Ann Hayward around 1866 in Elham Kent England and came to North America in 1871. After a long journey via Boston and Bedford Quebec they, settled in Manitoba, Canada. Have a resonable history since that time, however on the Swain side of the family nothing prior to James who was likely born sometime around 1845. Would welcome any info related to my family history.
