My Harriet J. Swain was born in Preble County Ohio in 1843 and died in 1931. She as my GG Grandmother. She married Walter M. Jefferson 12/24/1868, in Preble County OH and they had three children. I have a picture of her, her husband, their children, and their home.

Her father was Elisha Swain, who was born in 1820 and died 1904 (Preble County OH). I have a picture of him, too. He was one of 11 children born to Jacob Swain and Elizabeth Bloom.

I have some details on some of these 11 children and where they went and one of them may lead you to your Harriet. One Illinois line I am aware of was the daughter of Alvy Swain (Jacob's eldest). Lydiann Swain married Jacob Thalls and can be found in the 1880 Illinoi Census, Salem, Marion, Illinois - Page 184A.

A daughter of Jacob's named Patty married John Quinn and they raised their family in Missouri.

Jacob's son Ira Swain had 10 children. I know a little bit about 3 of them, but have no record of any of them moving to Illinois and can find no wives from Iowa.

Let me know if you think I can be of more help.
