Hello Robert,

I just found this message board and came across your message of June, 02 about the Swain Family in Ontario. I have recently started to try and find out more information about my father's family, since my maiden name was Swain. I have read all your E-mail postings to this list and some of your information is very similar to my families' "oral" history, since surnames of Swain, Sutton and Staples were all mentioned by my father. The people I am looking for are John Swain (B. 1862) and Jane Ann Swain (1864) in Valencia or Lindsay Ontario. They moved to Manitoba in the late 1890's, though several of their children (Stewart, Orral and Gladys) would have been born in Ontario. I believe several families moved west and all settled in this area, including cousins that are Suttons.
Are these people connected to your family? If you could provide any information I would appreciate any information you could provide.

Thanks,
Jane MacDonald
