Confused about Elizabeth Howland and Reuben Swain
Posted by: Loring John Swain, Jr. (ID *****7995) Date: December 15, 2003 at 13:07:45

I have come across conflicting or confusing data about Elizabeth Howland. In a family document written by William N.F. Swain in Noblesville, IN, 1900, he documents info from family records. He lists Reuben Swain, b. Oct. 30, 1724 in Nantucket, MA, Elizabeth Howland, his wife, b. July 12, 1724, were married Sept. 20, 1744, Nantucket, MA., she died March 11, 1755 after giving birth to Elizabeth Swain, b. Jan. 28, 1755. I am looking for Elizabeth Howlands parents. In the Massachusetts Vital Records, 1600s-1800s, Death Records, Nantucket, for Reuben, it lists Elizabeths parents as John Howland, but lists no mother. I can find no John Howland who had a daughter Elizabeth, but do find James Howland and a Cooke. Could the MA Death Records be incorrect ??
Can anyone help ?
If someone can help, I would like the sources.
Thanks.

Respectfully,
Loring John Swain, Jr.
