William H. Swain, b 1821; d. 1890 in Illinois was married to Susan Melvina Simonton. They had a daughter, Edith, who is in my line of family. I don't have a son by the name of Alfred, just a total of 8 children. Perhaps Alfred was he the youngest or the oldest? I also don't have any information on William's parents and would love to hear about any information that you have. I also have a photo of the Alfred Swain's headstone in Mont Ida cemetery with his year of birth (1855) and year of death (1902).
