I'm researching John Swain Martin, b. ca 1805 in Marion Co., TN and d. 1879 in Whitfield Co., GA. I'm thinking his mother was possibly a Swain. The family may have migrated to TN from AL, NC or VA. Hopefully someone has run across a Swain/Martin connection in their research?
