My husband's ggggrandmother was a Swain but.........we know little about her - she married a James Espy in 1811. In a book about the Espy family she is only referred to as "Miss Swain." We have never been able to find her first name. The Espy book noted that her father was a Methodist Minister. I have contacted the Methodist Church Headquarters and they sent me some information on both a Richard and a Nathan Swain who were ministers in the Philadelphia area where James and "Miss Swain" married. James was a sea farer and according to family was lost at sea sometime around 1860. The James Espys had two children, Margaret who married a Henry Freas and Samuel who married Jane Humphrey and it is from Samuel and Jane that my husband descends. We have no idea where "Miss Swain" lived when her husband went to sea nor have we found her grave. I'd appreciate any info you have - it may help me at least rule out Nathan Swain if nothing else.
Thanks for any help you may have to offer.
