Obit. Mrs. Lucy Ann Swain--Weekly Standard Newspaper--Raleigh, NC--Jun 08, 1859
At the residence of her husband, in Bertie county, on Sunday the 1st day of May 1859, Mrs. Lucy Ann Swain, wife of Mr. Whitmel R. Swain.
She was buried in the family grave yard at the residence of her grandfather, John D. Hawkins of Franklin county. Her afflicted husband and several friends followed her remains from Bertie to Franklin.
And thus has passed away poor Lucy Ann! She was indeed beloved by all. Her relatives and friends may console themselves by the reflection, that in her new home in Bertie, she won the hearts of all whom she met. Beautiful, intelligent, kind and christian in her manners, and lady-like in every respect, she will not be forgotten though she is gone. R
