I am seeking information on Walter Swain, b. 1830s prob. in Virginia and d. bef. Jun 1870. He married Sarah Catherine Lescallett, daughter of David Haines Lescallett and Sarah Catherine Leister, both natives of Maryland, about mid 1850s probably in Alexandria, Virginia, or Washington D.C. Walter and Sarah had 4 known children: William, Emma, Stephan and Jessie. Jessie, b. Nov 1869, is known to have married WIlliam McKinney and had two children, Catherine and WIlliam Jr. Catherine McKinney is known to have married a son of her Aunt Emma Swain whose married name may have been Schrufer. Sarah Catherine Swain was b. abt 1835-1836 in Baltimore, Md. and died 25 Mar. 1895. She is buried in Congressional Cemetery, Washington, D.C., where she shares a gravestone with her father David H Lescallett. I am a descendant of David Lescallett through his son Abraham Baile Lescallett, one of Sarah Catherine Swain's three brothers. Any information on this Swain family would be welcome!
