I think this Swain family from VA, Ky, TN and Texas is somehow related to the New York Swains because of the name of Valentine. On David Valentine Swain's death certificate Texas, 1942, his wife Edith was the informant and put down that he was born in New York in 1877 and his father was D. Swain. This is not true, because David V. Swain's parents are William F. and Alice Swain and he was born in Texas unless I have the wrong David V.Swain which I doubt. I can't help but wonder where Edith got that information about new York. I trace them back to Va when Williams grandfather was born in 1790 with his parents being born in VA. Hope this rings a bell with some one. Do you have a David Valentine from New York in your tree?
