Richard: Your Jacob Swain seems to be a grandson of the Jacob Swain and Elizabeth ? who settled in Preble Co OH and had the following children: Alvy b. 1803 and m. Synthia Lanie in 1824; Stephen m. 1824 to Catharine Lanier; Ira b. 1806 and m. 1 1827 to Jane Shidler and 2/ to Elizabeth Harris; Dural b. 1 Oct 1810 and m. 1834 to Jane Kennedy; John Louman m. 1831 Nancy Waters; Hannah m. 1/ Garner Shidler, 2/ Samuel Shaw, and 3/ John Miller; Polly; Martha; Belinda, Susanna, and Elisha b. 1820 m. 1841 to Nancy Brown. I have some children on some of these but don't show your Jacob. Please contact me ASAP as we are moving next week.
Our line is a Walter B. Swain who appears to have been a nephew of the elder Jacob. Jacob's son, Dural, was the executor on the will of a James Swain, the brother of Walter.
It is thought that their father was a Bethuel Swain, b. NY, and lived in PA before coming to OH.
