Your two John Swains are in my direct Swain line..In Alexander Starbuck's book "History
of Nantucket", Eunice (no birth date)married
William Coleman, son of Elihu & Jemima on Feb.26,1756. John, her father, died and left his widow Mary Swett with five minor daughters. (John's will probated 7-4-1736)
Mary subsequently married Samuel Gardner, 8-31-1748, son of James & Mary. They were Quakers. Pre-Revolutionary whalers (many were Quakers) established an outpost in Cape Sable, Nova Scotia in the early 1760's.Their Quaker Meetinghouse still stands in Barrington, N.S. By 1772, with whaling unprofitable, many returned to Nantucket. Perhaps your Eunice was among them, and would have gone with her husband Samuel. I have no further info. The book "Quaker Nantucket",
by Robert Leach and Peter Gow,Mill Hill Press, Nantucket..1997..is fascinating reading and goes into the N.S. whaling community. Do you have info on Richard Swain, father of John #1? Eunice had a brother named Elijah who married Susanna Cathcart. LDS, IGI, shows Eunice's birth as Aug. of 1731. You will find several Nantucket Eunice Swains there. www.familysearch.org
