Jacob Swain (1803-1887 OH )had a son, George Lewis Swain by his first wife, Mary (Emerick ?)in 1824. The 1850 and 1860 census shows Jacob and Juliann Swain and children living in Mohican Twp. Asland County, OH. Children that I have found are James b1830 m Sarah Emerick 17 June 1852, Elizabeth b1834, John b1837, Sarah b1837, William b1839, Jacob b1842, Juliette b1844 m Samuel Von Niman, m John Otto 1861, Henry b1847 m Emma Munson, and David b1848. George Lewis Swain is also listed in the 1850 census along with his wife,Cynthia Charlotte Segur Swain and child Henry Agustus. In 1855 they moved to Kewanee, IL and had seven more children. Francis Marion Swain was #6. He was my paternal grandfather. My father was born in Kewanee in 1912 and remembers his grandfather, George, who lived until 1918. A Ted Akin of Wooster OH ( I believe) is also doing research on Jacob Swain. Any information on Jacob's parents or his first wife,Mary, would be most welcome.
