Swales family pre-1818 England
This message relates to those posted by Georgina Brooks, Michael Swales and others a couple of years ago - listed on the message board.
You mentioned a connection with hawkers/earthenware dealers, Kirby Moorside/Pickering and the name James Swales.
I've traced my family back to James Swales b. 1818 Kirby Moorside d. 1890s Pickering Workhouse. He was married to Jane Stephenson and had at least John, Francis and James introducing places such as Stokesley and Thornaby. The family were all hawkers, tinners, cartmen, earthenware dealers. My family descend from James's son John. The family ended up in Hartlepool.
From James in 1818 I know his father was Francis - a hawker. And then I stop.I wonder if the James of 1786 mentioned in the messages is related to my Francis and James.
Look forward to hearing from anyone who can help. Thanks
