John and Osa Swaney family / Ohio
Hi,
Still researching the family of John and Osa Randolph Swaney (b. in Pa 1776 and 1793, respectively), residing/deceasing in Jackson County, Ohio, with connections to Jefferson County, Ohio, and Alleghany County, Pennsylvania. Between 1819 and circa 1850, these children were born to them: Thomas, Robert, Nancy Ann, Kenneth, Isabelle, Hanna, Nathaniel and Jane. I am descended from Nancy Ann Swaney (m. Alfred McKee, b. Jefferson County, Ohio).
I have been having a difficult time putting together all the "clues" I have about the Swaney family, and I was hoping someone might have a more cohesive compilation of family groupings that might help me solve some of these mysteries.
My questions are:
How were the Swaneys connected to the McKee family (who seem to have originated in Jefferson County, Ohio). Did they travel together to Jackson or were they unconnected before they started intermarrying each other in Jackson. (Thomas married Mary McKee; Nancy married Alfred McKee; Isabelle was a midwife for Emily Bell McKee).
Were the Swaneys originally from Massachusetts, as it appears that McKees were. (census record indicating that Alfred McKee's father was born in Massachusetts; 1860 Jackson Ohio Census showing a "Stephanel Swaney (how related?), age 51, being born in Massachusetts).
Were the Swaneys ever residents of Jefferson County? It appears that John Swaney had some connection to Jefferson, as he mentioned getting some money from there in his will.
Any insights appreciated!
Karla
