I descend from Mark Kinnison's brother Davis Kennison. I don't need more on Swank line but thanks. Here are all my research notes, including census, on Mark and matilda's children.
First Generation

       1. Mark1 KINNISON, son of Mark KINNISON(ABT 1777-1854) and Nancy DAVIS (ABT 1783-1864), was born VA/WV 6 Oct 1807. Markdied 3 Apr 1843 Noble Co. IN, at 35 years of age.
       He married Matilda SWANK La Grange Co. IN, 26 Nov 1835. Matilda was born in OH 1 Jun 1818. Matilda was the daughter of George SWANK and Jane LARRISON. She married John Elihu KITCHEN LaGrange Co. IN, 16 May 1845. Matilda (1818-1864) died 23 Jun 1864 Noble Co. IN, at 46 years of age. Birth date for Mark is from perpetual calendar using tombstone inscription. Mark Kinnison who died Apr 3, 1843 at age 35y 5 m 28 d buried in Salem Cemetery, Perry Twp, Noble Co. IN (per online IN site) Also Per Noble Co. marriage record online, Matilda is listed as mother of groom David May 1865 but no father is listed which supports that Mark died before that marriage date.

Marriage data for Mark and Matilda (both) is confirmed by Ancestry.com "Indiana Marriages".

1840 Mark KENERSON is shown pg 338 Clear Spring, La Grange Co. IN- 2 m under age 5 (David b. Feb 1840 plus one more son, possibly a Mark III), 1 m age 30-39 (Mark), 1 f under 5 (may be named Nancy per one unofficial source), 1 f 20-29 (wife Matilda). NOTE- John Kitchen aged 30-39 lives abt 15 houses away).

From online 1882 history of Clearspring, LaGrange Co. GA "The earliest preacher, Nathan Bishop, has already been spoken of. The first society to be organized in the township was one of the Methodist Episcopal Church, which held its meetings at SWANK's house, over the line in Noble County. Among the members of this little congregation were Elijah Pixley, Mark KINNISON, Mrs.Ruth Ray and Henderson Potts. Rev. James Latta, of the Haw Patch, was the organizer.

       Mark KINNISON (1807-1843) and Matilda SWANK (1818-1864) had the following children:
       2        i.        Hiram2 KINNISON was born in IN 1837-1844. He married Magdalena UNK Noble Co. IN, 30 Oct 1864. Noble Co. IN Marriage record Hiram m. Sontchi Magdalena-----30 Oct 1864. IN) records show KINISON- Infant (d/o) H & M) Mar 2 1870 KINISON Infant (d/o H & M) Jul 21, 1866 KINISON, Hiram Jun 26, 1876 32 y 5 m 21d (computes to b. 5 Jan 1844 but inconsistent with 1860 census where he was in John and Matilda Kitchen HH as age 23
       3        ii.        Nancy J. KINNISON was born in IN Abt 1839. Nancy died Bef 1900 Clearspring, LaGrange Co. IN. She married Samuel RITTER.
1870 Clearspring, LaGrange Co. IN- Pg 188A RITTER- Samuel 37 $2000-$475 OH; Nancy 30 IN; Dorothy 10 IN.

1880 Clear Spring, Lagrange, IN NA Film Number T9-0291 Pg 429D Samuel RITTER 46 OH Farmer PA PA; Nancy J. 42 IN VA OH;        George TRIP Other S Male 19 MI Farmer NY NY

1900 Clearspring, LaGrange Co. IN Pg 48A HH 144-149 RITTER- Samuel May 1833, 67 OH PA PA widowed, farmer, owns free of mtg.
+        4        iii.        David KINNISON was born 12 Feb 1840.
+        5        iv.        John N. KINNISON was born Oct 1842.

Second Generation

       4. David2 KINNISON (Mark1) was born in IN 12 Feb 1840. David died 15 Jan 1921 Noble Co. IN, at 80 years of age.        He married Margaret KLINE Noble Co. IN, 28 May 1865. Margaret was born Holmes Co. OH 25 Jan 1843. Margaret died 17 Feb 1922 Noble Co. IN, at 79 years of age.
1870 ClearSpring LaGrange Co. IN Pg 193A HH 237-239 (next door to brother J. N. Kinnison) KINNISON- David 29 IN $4750 (or 1750) RE $867 PP; Margaret 26 OH; Etta 4 IN; Magdalena 24 $1250-$129. It is believed that Magdalena was wife of Hiram Kinnison and that Hiram was a brother of David.

1880 Elkhart, Noble, IN, NA Film T9-0301 Pg 363B David KINISON 39 IN Farmer --- OH; Margaret 27 OH PA OH;        Ottie KINISON Dau 14 IN IN OH; George 6 IN IN OH; Henry MAERS Other 66 GER Painter (Tramp) GER GER.

Marriage to Margaret is on USGenWeb Noble Co. site. Also this site shows David and Margaret buried at Lakeview Cemetery, Wayne Twp, Noble Co. IN Section aC4c. Their tombstone inscriptions provided birth and death years. The Noble Co. site also gave an index of Probate records which gave their exact death dates. David's probate filed 2-22-1922 and Margaret's filed the same date.

Biography of David KINNISON. Vol. II, page 626.Presidents, Soldiers, Statesmen: H. H. Hardesty, Publisher, New York, Toledo,and Chicago, 1894. Submitted by: Arlene Goodwin, Auburn, Indiana: " David Kinnison son of Mark and Matilda (Swank) Kinnison, both deceased, was born in Lagrange county, Ind., Feb. 12, 1840, and received a good common school education in this county. May 28, 1865, he married in this county, Margaret Kline who was born in Holmes county, O., Jan. 25, 1843. Her father, Jacob Kline, is yet living (1894) but her mother, Barbara (Fisher) is dead. Their children are Etta L. and George E. Our comrade enlisted Feb. 20,1861, at Indianapolis, Ind., at the age of 22 years as a private in Co. D, 30thInd. V. I. 1st Brig., 2d Div., 4th A.C., and at the time of his enlistment was engaged in farming in this county. He was sick and in hospital at Louisville,two months with typhoid fever and was furloughed from there for thirty days,returning to Indianapolis at expiration of time; he was then sent to Soldiers'Home Feb. 20, 1862, eight weeks and May 25, 1862, was granted a discharge furlough. He took part in the battled of Shiloh and was honorably discharged Jan. 7, 1863, at Indianapolis, Ind. A brother, John N., served in 48th Ind. V.I., and received a gunshot wound in arm. His grandfather, George Swank served in the Mexican War. Comrade Kinnison was Supt. of poor at County Farm two years; he belongs to J. H. Dansuer Post, receives a pension and is at present engaged in farming at Lagrange, Ind., where he may be addressed. "

       7        ii.        George E. KINNISON was born in IN Abt 1875. He married Isabelle LEASE Noble Co. IN, 15 Apr 1905.
       5. John N.2 KINNISON (Mark1) was born in IN Oct 1842. John died 1906 La Grange Co. IN, at 63 years of age.        He married Catherine JUSTUS Bef 1865. Catherine was born Jan 1839. Birth date- Oct 23 1843 is shown on LaGrange Co. IN site under notes from 1904 Old Settlers. Oct 1846 was date for Mrs. John N. KINNISON. 1900 census showed Oct 1842 for John and Jan 1839 for Mrs. Tombstone reading per LaGrange Co. IN Cemeteries pg 302 Lakeside cemetery Row 7 # 2 John N. Kinnison veteran 1842-1906 Co.I 48 Ind. Vol. Inf.; Catharine Kinnison wife 1839-1912. Catherine's maiden name is from Sonia Rancheau.

       9        ii.        S. Coalfax KINNISON was born 1869. S.Kinnison died 1930 La Grange Co. IN, at 61 years of age. He married Mabel A. UNK. Mabel was born 1875. Mabel died 1953 La Grange Co. IN, at 78 years of age. Pg 302 La Grange Co. IN Cemetery Book- Lakeside Cem. gave S. Colafax and Mabel A. wife birth and death years. They are buried in Row 9 # 9 and 10. Next to them is dau. "Erma Grace KINNISON dau of S.C. & Mabel Kinnison 1893-1907"
