Forgot to mention: According to information from my father, Eugene C. Swank, our particular branch of the family came over as stowaways, ending up in Maryland. Another story involves one of them, or maybe their descendants, rode a horse through a tavern in Virginia, and shot the place up, whereupon he was banished from the area. Our Swanks ended up in Indiana and Michigan. Anyone ever heard of this particular story line?
