Dear Virginia, My grandmother's name was
Anna Gertrude SWATTS. She was the dau of John
Swatts, and Mary Hamilton. John was son of
Jacob Swatts, and Margaret Elmore. Jacob was
12 yrs. old when his father John Swatts and
mother Mary Dishner moved to IN from Sullivan
Co. TN. John Swatts had been in the War of
1812, and was prob born in Rockingham Co. Va
but I think he stemmed from the PA Swatts.'
I,too, have had a hard time finding other
Swatts. Margaret Elmore spelled it Swatz. I do have quite a bit of info. John Swatts
owned a state coach inn in TN. I have never
been able to find out who Mary Disner's parents were. I will be glad to exchange information. There is something strange about
John's War of 1812 records. An imposter may
have collected his pension! Hope to hear
from you. Gladys
