Dear Loleta, Abraham is a given name used
in my Swatts family. John Swatts born ca. 1790 in Va name one of the sons from his first marriage to Elizabeth (Betsy) Hickman in TN. He 2nd m. my ancestor Mary (Polly)
Disner and named an son Andrew Jackson Swatts. So my line may connect. Family tradition says that the family probably came
from Hamburg, Germany. One of the problem
researching SWATTS is that hardly anyone connects it to SWARTZ. As a matter of fact,
I didn't for a long time. John Swatts operated a stage coach line out of Bristol,
TN. He was a veteran of the War of 1812. He
migrated with his family in 1834 to Tippecanoe Co. IN. His son Jacob was about
14 yrs. He m. Margaret Elmore in 1857. They
had a son John E. Swatts who m. Mary Hamilton and they were the parents of my
grandmother Anna Gertrude Swatts. I will be glad to exchange info. Gladys
