Hi, I am a Columbus, Ohio resident and I live in a neighborhood that has just recently been named "Swayne's Corner" by the residents (including myself) who live here. The neighborhood encompasses the original 56 acres of Swayne's Addition plus about 12 city blocks just south of the original area. We have about 500 residences and three commercial strips within our boudaries. The land for Swayne's Addition was purchased by Noah Swayne in the mid-1800's and was developed for housing beginning in the 1890's. Noah Swayne was a US Supreme Court Justice appointed by Abraham Lincoln. His son, John Wager Swayne, was a General during the Civil War. As it is one of our goals to honor the antislavery efforts of the Swayne's, I am trying to find more information regarding them. The accounts I have found of the Swayne family are usually brief and similar in text. If anyone has additional information, photos or maps depicting the Swayne's, I would appreciate an email. We are also building a web site for our group. It will be posted to www.SwaynesCorner.com in the next few weeks. Thanks, Mike Elicson Notify Administrator about this message?
