In the 1745 Census of Hunterdon County, New Jersey, in the Town of Lebanon Samuel Swayze is listed next to Simon Voght. The Voght family lived just north of Potterstown at Lebanon's border with Readington Township. Just across the border was the homestead of David Potman. The Swayze's, Vought's, and Potman's [Putman's] lived next to each other. Simon's son Christopher Voght married Cornelia Potman, or Portman, later known as Putman, who was a daughter of David Potman. It is may educated guess that David Potman had a son John Davidse Putman who married and had a daughter Elizabeth Putman who married Samuel Swayze [III?]. The Putnam family of Hardyston, New Jersey, was associated with the Swayze family of Hopkins Corners, and I believe descended from John Davidse Potman.
