Many NJ Swayze's went to MS in 1773. known as The Jersey Settlers

Looking for parents of David Hopkins who married Mehitable Swayze. David and Mehitable's daughter Bethia Hopkins married Nathan Swayze. They were members of Rev. Samuel Swayze's Congregational Church in Chester, Morris Co., NJ who went to West Florida (now East Mississippi, Natchez area) in 1773. They were probably Loyalists and went south. Other NJ Hopkins went north to Canada. Also looking for parents of William Henry Hopkins b 1838 Erie Co., NY - 1911 Odebolt, Sac Co., IA.

I have much info on NJ Hopkins who may be connected to this line and RI Gov Stephen Hopkins 1707-1785, Signer of the Declaration of Independence. My line went from England> RI> Oyster Bay, Long Island, Queens Co., NY to NJ.

Any help greatly appreciated and will share all my Hopkins info. Thanks, Lee
