Swayze/Swayzee-Spelling changed?

Hello. Beginning research on the surname "Swayzee" seems to run into many dead ends. It is rumored within the family that ancestors migrated to the US from Canada and that an extra "e" was added at some point. If anyone has information with regard to this, it would be appreciated.
