I believe the Jacob Swayze you are referring to is the son of Jacob and Mary [Heath] Swayze of Morris Co., NJ, who is the son of Israel and Ruth [Drake] Swayze.
Jacob was born in 1844 in NJ, and seems to disappear by the 1870 census. This is the only Jacob Swayze I have found who could be the same one we both see in the 1880 census in Kansas.
It does not appear that any of Jacob's siblings moved to Kansas, so I cannot be positive that this is the same Jacob.
Do you have any additional information on the Jacob Swayze who lived in Kansas?
There is only one Jacob Swayze in the 1850 and 1860 Federal census who was born in NJ and who was born in the 1840's. So I believe there is a good chance that it is the same one living in Kansas in 1880
The Jacob in my database traces his ancestry back to John Swasey, born 1619 in England and died in Southold, Long Island in 1692. You can view my database at www.sweezey.net
I cannot seem to find either of these Jacob Swayze's after the 1880 census.
If you do find any additional information on this Jacob Swayze, I would appreciate it if you would drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
