Im not saying that your info is wrong but I am a Sweatt and this family changed their names alot as I am finding out. My aunt is named Evelyn yet the 1930 census shows her as Evelina which she says her dad named her.I know this family well the few that I am aware of???? I am not sure of the dates but can get them from the cemetery which is about 1/2 mile from my home.Treavy Sweatt was the sister of my grandfather Fred Jackson Sweatt (named after his mothers middle name) who was Alice Jackson Sweatt who is buried here.I am not aware of her husbands name but am sure my aunts are.I do know that my grandfather (who was called Jack) had a sister Treavy and a brother Hunter. My dads cousin who he was extremely close to and lived with his much of his life was Frank Know the only child as far as I know of Treavy and William Knox. My grandfather, dad etc were all born here in Newport. The Sweatts were very hard workers,as a matter of fact I have found out that is where their name originated cause they were laborere. My dads family were considered upper middle class here in Newport living on Holden Ave all my dads life. He always said he thought they had came from Kentucky many yrs before. There were another set of Sweatts here in Newport that we wasnt aware of any kin because they spelled their mane Sweat and this 2 tt thing was a major debate in this family as they hung on to the 2 tts a long time and we still do. My grandfather Fred Jackson Sweatt son of Alice married Nellie Jane Phillips and they had 4 children, my dad Roy Lee Sweatt Sr, Dorothy Belle,Evelyn, and Nellie Raye.My dad was born June 7, 1922 here in Newport and died July 13.1981. As far as we can go back my grandfather on the male side(Sweatt) lived longer than any of the males and died in 1959 at the age of 62.My dad married my mom Berlene Dean Passmore on Sept 22,1944 and they had 4 children also, Jimmy Alfred,Freddy Leroy,Roy Lee Jr and me Donna Jean.Jim was born in 1945,Fred,47,Roy Jr who has always been called Buddy 1948 and me , Donna Jean 1955. Dorothy Belle married Kenneth Len Grady and they had 2 children Dorothy Lynn and Kenneth Jr. Dorothy Lynn died at the age of 4 from cancer which went all over her body.Evelyn married Ralph Campbell and they produced 2 children Candace Denise and Randolph A.Randy died at age 30 from a heart disease that has hit everyone on both sides of my family,my moms and dads. 29 of us have had open heart surgery on both sides. My grandfather died of this,my dad and all of my aunts, cousins, etc have also had open heart including my 6 yr old grandchild. My brother Jim died at age 54 from a fall from a tree equailvent to a 7 1/2 story building in 1999 at the age of 54. He lived almost 10 days after this. My brother,Fred died of cancer at age 55 in June 2002 though they had both also had open heart. My brother Bud and I both had open heart when we were 38 yrs old and the drs say they can not ever do any more surgery on either of us.Dads youngest sister,Nellie Raye married Bob Anderson and they produced 3 sons, Stanley,Stewart Brad and Danny Bob.I can get the dates if you would like at the cemetery for Alice Jackson Sweatt,my great grandmother,Fred Jackson Sweatt,my grandfather and Nellie Jane Phillips,my grandmother. Frank Knox and his wife Dorothy is also buried there. They were married for many yrs before their death but this was the third marriage for Frank and the second for her. They had no children together but he raised her two by a previous mmarriage, Mary Elizabeth and Garland Sutterfield called Jr.My great grandfather married to Alice isnt buried by her though they say he is buried in the same cemetery,Walnut Grove, here in Newport. I have questioned the man that has the blueprints of the plots and he says there is no record of him being buried here.I have heard all my life that Hunter was murdered. His daughter was here a few days but I forgot to question her on this.As far as I know and my family know the 3 children by Alice and William Sweatt were my grandfather Fred Jackson,Hunter and Treavy. I was thinking maybe Greavy the one you refer to might be the mother of Alice, and perhaps a daughter she named Treavy but the dates show they would have been old enough for this to happen? My whole family is buried in this cemetery here in Newport and I can get any dates you need.I appreciate your reply and hope to learn more about this side of my family because they never talked about their descendants until recently and my aunt asked me to do some checking for her.The Sweatts are well known here as a honest hard working family. My dad was in the auto salvage business here and so was his dad until they purchased a grocery store right outside of Newport. We all bought property in that area at that time and for many yrs the little developement was called Sweattsville cause they were all that lived there. Its just a small suburb on Hwy 14 about 3 miles from Newport.Years ago when I was a child my grandparents owned the store though they later sold it to their daughter Evelyn and my aunt Dorothy and her husband owned the service station there. As I said my dad died in 1981 at the age of 59 and his sister Dorothy Belle died a about 7 yrs ago.Evelyn and Nellie Raye are still alive though both have had open heart also.Ingleside is also a small suburb of Newport, mostly farmers, about 3 miles south of Newport.I would appreciate any input that you can give me on this and will try and go today and get the dates off the grave stones. Please let me know any way that I can help you with this search. GBU,DJ Donna
