I have been researching the Sweatt family of S.C. and Alabama for almost a year now. I believe we are looking at the same family as I have also been tracking a Whittington Sweatt from S.C. to Alabama. My father's grandmother is a Sweatt, so I have been able to gather a little information from her. Whittington Sweatt (b. 1802/3 in S.C.) is the father of James A. Sweatt who married Martha Buckelew. I have Whittington's father as a W. Sweatt Sr. (I assume that would also be Whittington Sr.) but I don't have a note as to where I got this information. I also have been unable to track them any further back than that. I do know, however, with certainty (from relatives) that the Sweatt's came to N.C. or S.C. from France. I do not know when they arrived, but since I have hit a brick wall with Whittington, I assume it was sometime shortly before his birth. I have lots of other descendant information if you're interested. You are welcome to e-mail me at my home e-mail if you'd like. I'd love to find out if you have any information that I may be able to include in my records!! Thanks & hope to hear from you soon!! Pam
