I stumbled across your query on Thomas E. Sweatt. He was my gr. gr. grandfather. As you are aware, he was born in Tn in 1848. He appears as the 2 yr old son of Richard Sweet in the 1850 census for White county Tn. He is the only child in that family not born in SC. Richard appears in 1840 in Fairfield SC with children of corresponding ages to Thomas' older siblings. Thomas and Martha Sweatt were the parents of John Marion Sweatt, Died in Danville, VA in 1929. He was the father of Raymond Roy Sweatt, died Piedmont SC in 1926, who was the father of Raymond J. Sweatt, my natural father.
I have been unable to find Richard Sweatt back in SC after 1850; however, it appears his son, Daniel may be in Anderson Co. SC in 1880 at age 33.
I'm not sure if this
Richard ever went by the nickname "Dick".
Please let me know if this is of help to you or any other researchers on this line. My email is
Michael R. Grimm
