Some SWEATT/SWETT families living in the area of NC/VA/KY/TN/WV in the last 200+ years *may* belong to a very interesting group of people called MELUNGEONS (muh-LUNGE-uhns - rhymes w/ dungeons)
Some HEALTH problems *may* be involved with this ancestry. My websites noted below have some general information on the MELUNGEONS themselves and more detailed information on the possible health issues.
Please take a look if your SWEATT/SWETT family came from or passed through these areas, or has an Indian grandparent 'myth' which you have been unable to prove, a ship-wrecked or adoption story, mentions of 'Portyghee,' Black Dutch/Scot/Irish etc ancestry or is simply one of those 'brick-wall' families. There are physical characteristics noted on my site which may help identify descendants.
