My g-g-grandfather was Noah Sweat. He was born in 1822 in South Carolina. I know his family lived in Lancaster County, South Carolina. We know his mother's name was Sarah or Sally. One source states that Noah's father was named Elisha or Elijah Sweat. Noah's siblings included Charles and Ellenor. Other possible relatives include Stephen Sweat and David Sweat. Every distant cousin I have contact with have heard the same story that there is a Cherokee connection with our Sweats. Some of our Sweats spell the surname Sweatt. I would, of course, be glad to exchange information.
