Hi Donna:
Thanks for your reply. I was just in Hamilton Co., IL doing research and looked for a marriage license for them but did not find it. I am also interested in Phoebe Thompson, also a daughter of Drewry/Drury Thompson and Margaret Sweeten. Phoebe married Richard Sweeten, who died in the Mexican-American War. After his death, she married a neighbor, Edmund H. Foster in Oct 1850, but he died in 1852.Unfortunately, I did not have time to get to the cemetery where it is said she is buried.
There were a number of "Dutton Sweeten's" in existence. I think the first one was born ca 1755, a son of Sarah Lane and Richard Sweeten/Sweeting. I am sure that is how the "Dutton" name got into the Sweeten line, since Sarah Lane was a d/o Dutton Lane.
I am particularly interested in the Lane and Thompson connections to this family, since these appear to be related to my ancestors.
Any clues you could provide would be very welcome.
June
