It appears that my HITCHINGS line has been in America since at least the 3rd quarter of the 18th century --
John Combs HITCHINGS, b. Aug. 25, 1825, West Waterville (now Oakland), Kennebec Co., ME, son of Joseph HITCHINGS (b. Dec. 13, 1785, Salem, MA) and Betsey COMBS / COOMBS (b. July 22, 1791, West Waterville, Kennebec Co., ME). Joseph HITCHINGS was son of William HITCHINGS (b. June 9, 1747, unknown) and Rebecca DAVIS (dau. of Nathaniel DAVIS and Anne BADGER). Thanks for asking, and I appreciate learning your information.
